George is also the author of numerous books -- including
Making Men Moral: Civil Liberties and Public Morality,
In Defense of Natural Law,
The Clash of Orthodoxies: Law, Religion, and Morality in Crisis, published by the
Intercollegiate Studies Institute. In
The Clash of Orthodoxies, drawing on natural-law philosophy, he challenges liberalism's claim to represent the triumph of reason and argues that on controversial issues -- such as embryonic stem-cell research, abortion, euthanasia, homosexuality, and same-sex marriage -- traditional Judeo-Christian beliefs are actually rationally superior to secular liberal alternatives.
His most-recent book is
Embryo: A Defense of Human Life, with Christopher Tollefson. With the University of Chicago's
Jean Bethke Elshtain, he also co-edited 2006's
The Meaning of Marriage: Family, State, Market, & Morals, and he has written countless scholarly articles and book reviews.
