ON-Lion Letter
In their new book Give Us Liberty:  A Tea Party Manifesto, FreedomWorks Foundation chairman Dick Armey and FreedomWorks president and chief executive officer Matt Kibbe describe the historical roots, ideas, and tactics that animate the most-important grassroots movement in America today.

As described in the book, from William Morrow, Armey and Kibbe see an unprecedented citizen uprising standing poised to take America back from big spenders, self-righteous income redistributors, and an arrogant political establishment.  Grassroots citizens across the nation first became outraged by the big-government "conservatism" of former President George W. Bush, with its earmarks, deficit spending, and bailouts for Wall Street.

Downright frightened by the big-government audacities of President Barack Obama, they have taken to the streets en masse against a hostile takeover of our health-care system, costly special-interest giveaways, and a shocking expansion in the size of -- and control by -- the federal government, Armey and Kibbe write in Give Us Liberty.

Dick Armey served in the U.S. House of Representatives for 18 years, becoming majority leader in 1994.  A former economics professor, he was the main author of the Contract with America, a national policy platform credited with helping Republicans take control of the House for the first time in 40 years.  He spoke at the 2010 Bradley Symposium, on conservatism and the Tea Party.

Matt Kibbe served as chief of staff to former U.S. Rep. Dan Miller.  He was also the director of federal budget policy for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and a senior economist for the Republican National Committee.

The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation in Milwaukee substantially supports the FreedomWorks Foundation, which is based in Washington, D.C.
