The Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) recently marked the second anniversary of its Center on Sanctions and Illicit Finance (CSIF) with the release of a report on national economic security and a corresponding launch event on economic statecraft.

The report, which has been distributed and discussed with current and former government officials, provides recommendations for the U.S. government and policy community on how to use tools of economic statecraft and address systemic vulnerabilities in order to safeguard U.S. national economic security.

Among those onstage Monday, February 6, 2017 for the launch event on economic statecraft were senior officials from the Trump administration's National Security Council, former Obama administration officials from Justice and State, the serving deputy assistant secretary of terrorism and financial crimes from the Treasury Department, and a 20-year Treasury Department Veteran and former Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing, who this week joined CSIF’s Board of Advisors.

The audience included 300 senior stakeholders within CSIF’s expanding network: current and former government officials, ambassadors, compliance experts, press and other national security and financial policy experts. More than 200 people also tuned in through livestream.

The Foundation for the Defense of Democracies is supported by the Bradley Foundation.
