ON-Lion Letter
Situated on Milwaukee's lakefront, the Discovery World Science and Technology Center uses interactive exhibits, activities, and educational programs to introduce young people and their families to STEM education through memorable and entertaining hands-on experiences.  With a facility that includes more than 10,000 square feet of educational classroom, laboratory, and studio space, one of Discovery World's most-popular opportunities for school-age children includes a series of summer camps designed to spark curiosity about technology, science, design, and engineering in ways that provide opportunities to explore future career possibilities while also having fun and encouraging creativity.

This Summer, more than 60 summer camps will be offered, with subjects ranging from chemistry and marine biology, to robotics and architecture.  Discovery World offers scholarship support to more than 20% of its summer campers, ensuring that kids throughout its community can take advantage of its programs and have their eyes opened to future career opportunities.

This year, Discovery World is also expanding its repertoire of summer camps by offering new programming specifically designed for early-childhood learners.  These new “pint-size science” camps highlight freshwater science, physics, and entomology for children in first and second grade. These camps take into consideration the developmental stages and active nature of younger students in an effort to foster their love of learning, exploration, and investigation.  Camp sizes are small, enabling one-on-one interactions and more engaging activities.

In addition to creating motivated learners who are passionate about STEM, Discovery World emphasizes that a significant part of its mission is to serve as a partner to employers in its community who will have a need for skilled and innovative employees in the future.  Given that many of the fastest growing occupations require significant mathematics or science preparation, while global innovation is driven by creative leaders with strong connections to technology, engineering, and design, Discovery World believes that its efforts to provide early access to innovation is the first step in producing well-rounded individuals armed with creative tools and techniques that can help solve challenges faced by their local communities and around the globe.

The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation substantially supports Discovery World.
