ON-Lion Letter

The first annual Faith & Freedom Award will be presented as part of Movieguide®'s 24th annual Faith & Values Awards on February 5, 2016.

Seven movies have been nominated for the Faith & Freedom Award, which honors the best movie promoting "American democratic capitalism and the institutions, principles and values that sustain and nurture it."  The nominees are: Cinderella; The Good Dinosaur; The Hunger Games:  Mockingjay – Part 2; Joy; Max; McFarland, USA; and Woman in Gold.

"The competition was really tough,” according to Ted Baehr, co-founder and chairman of Movieguide®.  "There were a lot of great movies in 2015 celebrating American values and faith and freedom, and most of them did pretty well at the box office."

At the Faith & Values Awards, Baehr will present highlights from Movieguide®'s 2016 Report to the Entertainment Industry, a comprehensive financial analysis of the movie business showing what kinds of movies and what kinds of movie content moviegoers favor the most.  Each year, the Annual Report shows that moviegoers prefer family-friendly movies with positive, American content and values celebrating faith and freedom.

An hour-long version of the 24th Annual Faith & Values Awards Gala will be telecast on the REELZChannel on February 22 and 24.

The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation in Milwaukee substantially supports Movieguide® and the Faith & Freedom Award in particular.
