ON-Lion Letter

First Stage is one of the nation's most-acclaimed children's theaters and the second-largest theater company in Milwaukee.  Supported by Milwaukee's Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, First Stage's 2015-16 season continues to create extraordinary theater experiences for young people and families.

Its season beings in October with Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach.  When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion which results in a tremendous peach -- and launches a journey of enormous proportions.  Then, A Charlie Brown Christmas begins in November.  Christmas lights may be twinkling red and green, but Charlie Brown has the Yuletide blues.

In January, Holes begins.  Fourteen-year-old Stanley Yelnats faces an ancient curse and a missing treasure when he's falsely convicted of a crime and sentenced to Camp Green Lake to dig countless holes.  In The Snow in February and March, after an epic snowfall seemingly imprisons the residents of the tiny village of Kishka, young Theodore Sutton proposes the villagers build a catapult to fling him and send six of the village's bravest and strongest out over the snow in search of a solution.

In Ella Enchanted in April and May, Ella of Frell was given the "gift" of obedience by a misguided fairy at birth, and she must obey any order given to her -- whether it's hopping on one foot for a day or chopping off her own head.  In May and June, in Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, a young mouse is ready for anything in a colorful world of imagination.

All of these performance are in the Todd Wehr Theater.

The First Steps Series features two performances elsewhere for families with children between the ages of three and six -- Spookley the Square Pumpkin in October and November and Just a Little Critter in February and March.  And the First Stage Young Company, the First Stage Theater Academy's award-winning training program for its most-advanced high-school actors, features another two performances elsewhere -- All's Well That Ends Well in December and Antigone in April.

Single tickets and family packages for all performances are all purchasable online, or will be closer to when the performances begin.
