With a new school year approaching, Hispanics for School Choice hosted a community event at St. Anthony School of Milwaukee's high school in mid-August.  During the event, a thousand backpacks were given away to mostly Hispanic school-aged children from the city's south side.

Bilingual volunteers for Hispanics for School Choice -- which is supported by Milwaukee's Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation -- directed parents and children to activities, vendors, and authentic ethnic food.  The event also featured music, traditional dance, raffles, and a funhouse for younger kids.  Raffle prizes included sporting goods, fitness-club memberships, and tickets to Mexican Fiesta.

Los Angeles Lakers forward Marcus Landry addressed the crowd, as well, stressing the importance of education.
